Visrama: The Luxury of Leisure

Rabi Sahoo

This sculpture details out a lady relaxing (Visrama in Sanskrit) in a royal garden. The aspect of leisure is evident with her arms loosely stretched over her head and her left leg lazily taking support of a tree. Unconcerned of the deer trying to gain her attention, the lady seems to be in her own uncomplicated dreamworld. The sculpture stands out evidently because of the intricate work that brings out the real feel of the atmosphere that she is in as well as the trouble-free feeling experienced by her. It also conveys the finesse with which the craftsmen of yore were able to capture the real essence of royal life and pass it to future generations.

Suggested Placement: The courtyard or the entrance.

Note: With respect to size, the statue can be custom made -- hand sculpted over a specific time frame.
