Subhaga: The Loving Wait

Ranjan

Aspirations of men during the time of kings used to be protection of their territory or to expand their kingdom. Aspirations of their queens used to be their soulmate’s safety and wellbeing. Hearing from their dear (Subhaga in Sanskrit) used to be the only concern, when their husbands were out for days. In this sculpture on sandstone, a queen’s thoughts are aptly depicted on her face as she writes her thoughts in a letter intended to be sent to her beloved. Royalty is resplendent, and her features have a rare contrast -- that of love, concern and fear, all coming together to present a beautiful image of longing.

Suggested Placement: The main entrance or the corner of your living room or in your courtyard

Note: With respect to size, the statue can be custom made -- hand sculpted over a specific time frame.
