Pratiksa: The Beloved’s Letter

Rabi Sahoo

This statue in sandstone depicts a lady from the royal family writing a letter to her beau who has possibly gone far. This aspect is represented by the addition of a pregnant lady as part of the sculpture, indicating that their symbol of love has been growing in her, all the while since he left. The impeccably chiseled backdrop adds to the situation which calmly represents the wait (Pratiksa in Sanskrit) that the lady has been going through. The manner in which the craftsman has captured the aura on her face -- the eyes slightly tired of the wait, while optimism still persists with a hint of a smile , adds to knowing her feeling.

Suggested Placement: The courtyard or the entrance or the corridor

Note: With respect to size, the statue can be custom made -- hand sculpted over a specific time frame.
